I have been enjoying your blog a lot. I had no idea all this stuff was in New Orleans. I think it sounds like New Orleans is way more your cup of tea than Northern Virginia! Ever considered a move?
Have you heard some good bass players while in NO? I see in your photos that one was playing at the Spotted Cat- would have loved to have heard.

This was definitely my favorite trip there but it is the best time of year to go. I understand the summer heat lasts until November.
As for bass players, I listened to the Tommy Sancton band at Preservation Hall and the bass player is Richard Moten and he was awesome. Here is a link to him:

The Royal Roses at the Spotted Cat were just so incredible but it was too crowded to get over by the bass player. The singer with her clarinet made the show.
