The assemblage workshop really came down to the art work, something everyone worked on each day, some day and night. There were 4 tin men, 2 cowardly lions, a few flying monkeys and numerous other oz characters. Not as many wicked witches as you might imagine. I came prepared, or at least pre-built the foundation for my Cowardly Lion, which was perfect because I was able to complete him and almost finish a tin man. I have never been this satisfied with my own work, and this was my 5th year of traveling to New Orleans for this experience.
As it goes with a Michael DeMeng workshop, once the song "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" plays (he always has a playlist), all paintbrushes have to be put down, time is up! The group then puts their art work on display and Michael gives us a critique. So here are some shots from the workshop and my (now) completed pieces.
Some pieces have moving parts and/or a back story to go along with them. As you can see, the range of work is incredibly varied.
My final pieces after a little touch up work at home:
As art work goes, we travel with some odd things. Old catalytic converters, oil cans, baby doll parts, clock cases and the occasional plastic monkey.... eek, eek!
Tour pictures are beautiful and your art inspiring! Love these!

Ah, we had a good time. Can't thank-you enough for having parts I needed. Cheers to those that drive with lots of stuff!

I didn't realize that was your lion! I love how he is looking up at the crown like and can almost hear him bashfully say something about it!

Lynn,
Almost exactly what Michael, our instructor, said. The small things that make things come together. Thanks so much!

I so get all of this! How much fun! I love it. I am now inspired to get back to my own studio! Thanks! You've given me that shove I needed!
